Double D Trailers
97 Old School Series

'97 NEVER REALLY LEFT.

Introducing the Old School Series

We started Double D Trailers in 1997 with a pretty straightforward goal. Build a solid horse trailer, make it safe for the horse inside, and give the owner something worth what they paid for it.

97 Bumper Pull

Nearly 30 years later, we started looking back at some of those trailers.

They were still out there hauling horses.

Many of them still looked great. They still pulled great. They had been through years of use, thousands of miles, changing horses, changing trucks, changing owners, and they were still doing the job they were built to do.

That got us thinking about what made those trailers so good in the first place.

And what might be worth bringing back.

Built to hold up. Built to haul. Built like '97.

97

THE 97 STANDARD

Solid. Safe. Value.

Horse trailers have changed quite a bit since 1997.

So have we.

Over the years, Double D Trailers became more customizable. More specialized. We developed new designs, added new features, and gave customers more ways to build a trailer specifically around their horses and the way they travel.

We are proud of that.

But all of that choice comes with a price.

We started hearing from horse owners who liked what we built, but did not necessarily need every option or every level of customization available on one of our fully custom trailers.

They wanted something simpler.

They still wanted a trailer they could trust. They still cared about how it was built and how their horse would travel inside it. They just did not need to turn a horse trailer into a major project.

That sounded familiar.

It sounded a lot like 1997.

So we went back to the standard we started with. Solid. Safe. Value.

That became the Old School Series.

SOLID

Old School Series gooseneck hitched to a pickup

When you have been building horse trailers for nearly 30 years, you get to see what happens after the newness wears off.

A trailer can look impressive sitting on a lot. The better test is what it looks like after years of hauling horses.

We kept seeing Double D Trailers that had been built years ago and were still out there doing their job. They had held up because there was something solid underneath everything else.

Old School starts there.

NO-RUST GALVALITEBuilt tough, made to last

Every '97 Old School starts with a durable, rugged steel frame, built to handle years of hauling, twisting and bumps on the road.

On the outside, it's wrapped in a No-Rust Galvalite exterior: a metal stronger than aluminum that doesn't rust. Every seam is sealed and the exterior gets an automotive-grade paint finish, so it looks good and holds up for years.

And it's lighter than you might think: a '97 Old School typically weighs within about 5% of a comparably equipped, well-built aluminum trailer.

Strong where it counts, protected from rust, and priced to be affordable.

Hook it up. Load the horses. Go.

And keep doing that for years.

SAFE

The price may be different. Our priorities are not.

There are plenty of ways to simplify a horse trailer and bring the cost down. The safety of the horse is not where we wanted to do it.

A horse does not know whether the trailer has every available option. What matters to the horse is the space you are asking them to step into and the ride you are asking them to take.

That has been part of the Double D conversation from the beginning, and it remains part of Old School.

We wanted a more attainable trailer without losing sight of the reason the trailer exists in the first place.

To get your horse there safely.

VALUE

Earlier Double D bumper pull horse trailer
Earlier Double D three-horse gooseneck trailer

The older trailers are what really drove this point home for us.

We would see a Double D that had been built years and years ago, and there it was. Still hauling. Still pulling well. Still looking good.

That is when the word value started to mean something different.

Value is not simply finding the lowest price on the day you buy a trailer. It is what you have five years later. Ten years later. It is how many trips you make with it and how long it continues to do the job you bought it to do.

We did want Old School to be considerably more approachable in price than our fully custom trailers. But we did not want to accomplish that by building something you would be ready to replace a few years from now.

The goal was to take what we have learned over nearly three decades and build a simpler Double D at a price that opens the door to more horse owners.

That is our idea of value.

WHY DOES OLD SCHOOL COST LESS?

That is a fair question.

Our fully custom trailers give you a tremendous amount of freedom. Depending on the trailer, you can make decisions about layouts, dimensions, equipment, finishes, storage, horse areas, options, and all kinds of details.

That level of customization takes time to design and time to build.

Old School takes a different approach.

We have already made more of those decisions.

The configurations are more focused. The options are more focused. We can build the trailer around a proven specification instead of starting with a blank sheet of paper every time someone orders one.

That lets us simplify the process and control the cost without turning Old School into a cheaply built trailer.

You still get to choose the trailer that works for you.

We have simply narrowed down the choices to the ones we believe matter most.

SOMETIMES SIMPLE MAKES MORE SENSE

Not everyone needs a fully custom horse trailer.

Maybe this is your first trailer.

Maybe you haul locally and want something dependable for lessons, trail rides, shows, clinics, and trips to the vet.

Maybe you have owned trailers for years and already know exactly how much trailer you actually need.

Or maybe you have looked at the price of a new horse trailer lately and wondered when things got so complicated.

Old School was built for that customer.

You are still buying a new Double D Trailer.

You are simply buying a different kind of Double D.

One that takes us closer to where we started.

CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THE CLASSICS.

There is a reason we keep coming back to 1997.

It is not because everything was better back then.

It is because some of the ideas were.

Build it solid. Take care of the horse. Charge a fair price for what you are building.

Then build it well enough that years from now, someone can look at that same trailer and say, “That thing has really held up.”

That is what we want Old School to become.

Not the trailer you bought because it cost less.

The trailer you look back on years later and realize was a really good buy.

Built to hold up. Built to haul. Built like '97.

READY TO GO OLD SCHOOL?

Tell us what you haul and what you are looking for in a trailer.

We will walk you through the Old School Series, answer your questions, and put together pricing for the model that makes the most sense for you.

There is no obligation to buy.

Just a straightforward conversation about what you need and whether Old School is the right fit.
