Not everyone needs a multi-horse trailer.
Maybe costly gas prices have you looking to travel lighter on those trips where you’re only taking one horse.
Or the declining tow capacities on vehicles have led you to reconsider your two-horse trailer.
That makes sense. Why tow around a heavier, longer trailer when a one-horse trailer would do the job?
You’re not alone! We’ve heard from many horse people asking this same question, so we developed a true one-horse bumper pull trailer that will work perfectly for anyone with just one horse BFF.
Nervous loaders are no problem with our exclusive and unique SafeTack design. Our 1-horse trailer features a full-width entryway created by a swing-out tack compartment. This eliminates the narrow, intimidating doorways found on many trailers.
This configuration not only makes your horse feel more comfortable, but it keeps YOU safer. With more room to maneuver, there is less chance of being pinned against the sides of the trailer if your horse moves suddenly.
Backing out of a trailer can be a bit nerve-wracking for some animals. With the SafeTack configuration, there is plenty of room to fully turn around and walk off the rear of the trailer.
It can be a scary experience if your horse is antsy in his trailer stall. Getting kicked while fumbling with the butt bar is no small matter. Our second partition easily locks into place next to the horse, so you don’t ever need to worry about this dangerous scenario.
When people search for a small horse trailer, they usually want a compact, lightweight rig that is easy to tow and store, but they worry that "small" means it won't fit a full-size horse. With a Double D Trailers 1-horse trailer, "small" describes the trailer's outer footprint, not your horse's stall. If you have a horse over 16.2 hands, you might assume a slant load won't work for you, and with most traditional slant loads that's true. We do things differently. Every Double D Trailer is custom-built, so we add stall space exactly where it's needed and comfortably fit large breeds up to 17.2 hands and taller, while keeping the compact, easy-to-tow size that makes a small horse trailer so convenient. You get the maneuverability and lower towing cost of a small single-horse trailer with an interior built around your horse.
There’s the Easier Towing: A one horse trailer from Double D Trailers is going to be about 11.5 feet long, which is 2.5 feet shorter than a typical trailer built for two horses. This reduced length means it is going to be easier to maneuver on the road. Plus, you'll have increased visibility. If you'd like to start designing your own custom one horse trailer, just click the "Customize Your Trailer" button below. There’s no obligation. You can even design several versions just to see how different options go together. And remember, you can always reach out to us for advice or to ask us questions if they come up.
