This two horse trailer comes standard 7'6" tall, has lined and padded stalls, and is fully enclosed. Loading is very easy in this trailer because when loading the second horse, you can exit through the walk through door to the dressing room and not have to climb out of a small door on the side. The swinging stall divider also works well for loading, plus it can be easily removed for other hauling purposes such as moving hay to the barn. Whether showing or trail riding, the "Sportabout" is an all-around trailer for everyone. The 4' dressing room provides plenty of space upfront for overnight stays, and an awning and A/C can easily be installed for more comfort and style.
Recently, the more popular version of the Sportabout is to add dual escape doors on either side. This layout seems to work best for folks at shows who are not using the trailer to sleep or camp inside. The 7'6" height option is a very popular option for the larger horses.
Many breeds of horses today are very large, particularly in states such as New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio. We have sold a number of Sportabout models in those states with Delivery to any of those.
Weight of trailer is 4100 lbs approximately and can be towed with most any 1500 series half ton pick up truck.
#10510 (2+1 Model) Sold in Waterloo, Ontario Canada
Enjoy and relax underneath your new patio awning. Awnings are available in a variety of configurations and hardware but we only offer the two step. Why? Because it is the easiest to operate and will set up easily. Watch the video.
Battery Interior deep cell 12 Volt wired to charge from your truck. This deep is installed inside the dressing room and powers your interior lights, fans, and load lights, without being plugged into your truck. It is wired so that your tow vehicle will trickle charge it when driving. You may add the exterior battery bracket if you prefer it to be mounted outside.
Brush Tray on dress door or Tack door.(If you are purchasing a slant load, there is plenty of space to throw in brushes in the rear Safetack. Use this option to add a brush tray on your dressing room door up front or tack door NOTE: Cant be used with screen door option) Brush tray design may vary from photo.
If you are using the inside of your dressing room for a tack area, you may want to add some bridle hooks or hangers on your wall that separates your room from your horses. Carpet this wall to prevent bridles and other items from scratching as well as providing a noise dampener
Suggestion: This small 6in tall gate is located on the wall just below the gooseneck and flips up to form a barrier that will keep items from sliding out of the GN onto the floor. Works well if you are planning to store items in your Gooseneck area. (actual design may vary slightly from photo)
Add a hydraulic jack in place of the standard Jack. These systems are very reliable and you can raise and lower your trailer at the touch of a button. (requires single battery option) Note the video shows dual batteries which is not necessary
If you want to upgrade from your standard hand crank jack, and you do not want to spend the extra money for the hydraulic jack, the electric jack may be a good fit for you. They do operate slower than the hydraulic but will get the job done. (requires battery feature if on a non-living quarter trailer)
Used in place of a standard gooseneck jack, two speed jacks work well as an alternative to a hydraulic jack and can be used for lifting heavy loads. By offering two gear ratios, lighter loads are faster to lift and heavier loads take more revolutions. You can add on an electric motor in the future with this feature. (note: the spring loaded feature on the jack foot is not available on a two speed jack)
One saddle rack comes standard per horse. Example: if you are looking at a 3 Horse model, 3 saddle racks are included. This feature allows you to add an extra saddle rack to your saddle tree, or front dress if saddles are located there.
Gooseneck step and storage chest: This storage trunk and combination carpeted seat, is installed against the jack sheet wall and runs the full width of the trailer or 3/4 width depending on your layout. It also provides an easy step up into the gooseneck area. This storage bin/seat takes up 1 foot of depth in the floor space. Optional footage (at least one foot of length) is often added to the dressing room to better accommodate this addition without using up floor space.
Upgrade from combined 7000 lb capacity axles to 10400 lb, recommended when adding footage to trailer on Gooseneck models or bumper pull models. Pricing includes upgrade to 15 inch D rated tires also in place of standard 15 inch C rated tires.
Water Tank-25 gallon triangle with stand for inside the dressing room.Suggestion: This smaller water tank (14 in per side of triangle and 56 in. tall) easily tucks into corner of the dressing room. You may fill your tank from the top and use your water from gravity feed. All you need is a water hose.
Most tack rooms are a nightmare when it comes to organization, some even downright junky! (I can see you nodding your head in agreement). Add this wall organizer grid to your new trailer which allows you to utilize the vertical wall space. No more stuff in the floor. After you add the grid, you may order separately bins, containers, hooks, racks, mirrors and other accessories that will attach to the grid. The accessories are very reasonable and available at many online tack store websites.
Being able to monitor your horses while traveling as well as see what is behind your trailer can be beneficial. Add this feature which includes two cameras (one for your horses, one back up or rear view camera). Includes a wireless monitor which you plug in to your 12V supply inside your tow vehicle. Operates wireless.
Front stall escape door (NOTE: Walk thru door is standard from the horse area to the dressing room. Use this option if you want a door at the horses head, typically used at shows for accessing horses) specify one door on one side or one door on each side for a total of (2) doors
Ramp Fold up door spring assist covered with black matting, mounts outside full height rear doors. Ramps are safer for loading for your horses and offer more protection in case you have a rear end collision.
All sliding windows include a screen. And the sliding portion of your drop down is screened as well. However, when you fold down your window and leave the bars in the folded up position, there is not a screen to protect your horses eyes from debris and bugs. Select this option to add a screen for your drop down feed windows. It includes a zipper so you can unzip for feeding if needed. Priced per window.
Make this a stock side trailer (open slatted) rather than enclosed with windows. Suggestion: we do recommend against open sided trailers since they are not water tight and allow rain to get inside your trailer on the flooring, walls and padding. However, some customers want open stock style trailers, so this option is available. Pricing does not include the Plexiglass. Many customers feel open sided trailers are cooler but this is not the case. Since all Safetacks are insulated in the side walls, insulated in the roof, and use not heat transferring property materials, your horses will ride very comfortable in a fully enclosed trailer with windows and vents for air flow.
2 x 8 in. pressure pine flooring with mats is a standard feature. You may change to Rumber which is a rubber and made from recycled tires. The dimensions of each board is 2 x 8 in and it is tongue and groove interlocking, solid rubber material. It is a soft ride with minimal noise and vibration. The neat thing about Rumber is it doesnt require any stall mats which makes it super easy to clean and maintain. Plus it has a lifetime warranty, virtually indestructable.
Up to a 4 foot short wall.

A ladder to get up in the bed area is included or steps depending on your layout. You may add a folding ladder that folds against the wall when not in use or is removable to store on the bed when not in use. Recommended to create additional floor space. Photo shown is folding ladder
Add a RV style refrigerator to your living quarters. Since it operates on battery power or propane, it works well to maintain your food cold while traveling. This option requires at least 2 feet of base cabinet as well as Package plumbing package #3.
Add an RV style Microwave to your living quarters. These are designed for the abuse and movement of the road and are properly vented to avoid overheating by being mounted inside of a cabinet.
