We're excited to feature Siddartha, a former member of the United States Equestrian Team, who is making the transition from a vaulting athlete to a coach. With a unique background and a deep passion for the sport, Siddartha brings a fresh perspective to equestrian vaulting.

Siddartha's Unlikely Introduction to Horses: Despite her parents being allergic to horses, Siddartha's love for equestrian sports began during her summer visits to a ranch in Ottawa, Canada. It's a testament to her passion that she pursued vaulting, despite her family's lack of connection to the equestrian world.

Discovering Equestrian Vaulting: At eight years old, Siddartha was introduced to equestrian vaulting at a summer camp. Combining her love for gymnastics and dance with horseback riding, she immediately fell in love with the sport. Her skill and potential were recognized early on, leading her to join a vaulting club.

The Journey to the US Equestrian Team: Siddartha’s journey to becoming a US team member was swift and impressive. Starting in a lower-level canter team, she quickly moved up to higher-level teams, competing across Europe. By the age of 10, Siddartha was competing internationally, showcasing her talent in a sport that demands both physical prowess and a strong connection with the horse.

Equestrian Vaulting Explained: Vaulting is described as gymnastics and dance on horseback. The horse canters in a circle, controlled by a lunger, while the vaulter performs a routine. This sport requires a harmonious relationship with the horse and significant mental and physical strength.

Key Accomplishments and Experiences: Siddartha recalls her participation in the 2014 World Equestrian Games and the 2015 Junior World Championships as significant milestones. Her experiences competing internationally, especially her team’s success at the Junior World Championships, stand out as highlights of her vaulting career.

The Transition to Coaching: The COVID-19 pandemic led Siddartha to explore coaching. She discovered a passion for teaching and inspiring young vaulters. Her goal is to contribute to the sport by nurturing the next generation of athletes and sharing her extensive experience and insights.

The Importance of Mental Training: Siddartha emphasizes the mental aspect of vaulting, alongside physical training. She works with her athletes on visualization, breath work, and adapting to different horses – skills that are crucial for success in vaulting competitions.

Aspirations for the Future: As Siddartha transitions into a full-time coaching role, her aim is to inspire her athletes to give back to the sport and to continue promoting vaulting. She hopes to play a significant role in the growth and success of equestrian vaulting, both as a coach and as an advocate for the sport.

Siddartha's journey from an athlete to a coach in the world of equestrian vaulting is a story of passion, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence. Her experience and enthusiasm for the sport make her a valuable mentor for upcoming vaulters.
