How Does the Trail Blazer Compare to Our “SafeTack Reverse LQ” Trailer?

living quarters horse trailerYou may have noticed that our top living quarters trailer is called the SafeTack Reverse LQ.  This larger model includes all of our highest quality amenities.  It’s really the cream of the crop!

The SafeTack Reverse LQ model comes standard with a side ramp and door, combination forward or reverse facing design, 96” width for bigger horse breeds, hardwood cabinets, wooden crown molding, larger living quarter layouts, and many other enhancements.

Lucky for you, many of these top features can be added 'al la carte' to the Trail Blazer!  For example:

  • If you want to increase the trailer width from 80” to 96” for your larger horses…You can do it!
  • If you like the standard Trail Blazer layout, but you’ve gotta have those hardwood cabinets in your kitchen…Then go for it!
  • Maybe you are happy with the smaller living quarters on the Trail Blazer, but you want to add a side ramp and door to allow for rear-facing stalls for your horses…No problem!

The Trail Blazer lets you pick and choose which features will work best for your specific hopes and desires.  Or, if you know that you want a larger living quarters and ALL of the top features wrapped up in one neat package, then check out our SafeTack Reverse LQ model.

Top Horse Safety Features on the Trail Blazer

As with all of our trailers, the Trail Blazer has a number of horse safety features that make it stand out in the crowd of “average” trailers on the market.

  • Safer Loading with the SafeTack Design – This patented slant load horse trailer design has a tack storage compartment that swings completely open like a second door.  It leaves a wide open entry way for your horses to load and unload.
  • Reverse Load Design Available – If you choose this option, your horses will load through a side door and ramp and walk into a rear facing stall. (Check out the video below to see this in action!)  There is increasing evidence that horses haul with less stress and fatigue in the rear-facing orientation.  Best of all, they can simply walk off the back of the trailer to unload.  They’ll never need to back again!

  • Z-Frame® technology – Our trailers are both lightweight and strong.  The Z-Frame chassis is far superior to aluminum-framed trailers since it will protect your animals in the case of an accident.
  • “No Leak” SafeBump Roof System – Unlike most trailers on the market, our single piece fiber-composite roofing system does not need regular maintenance to seal against leaks.  Plus, it is designed to flex and protect your horse’s head while regulating the interior temperature of the trailer on hot days.

Customize Your Living Quarters

living quarters horse trailerAs we mentioned, this trailer comes with modest living quarters that can be customized to your heart’s content.  Choose where to spend your money.  Here are some popular options that our customers choose for their own designs:

  • Add a 2-step awning for a shady retreat on hot days.
  • Switch out your vinyl wrapped cabinets for hardwood fixtures and wooden crown moldings.
  • Replace the paneled walls with Soft Touch Walls and Ceiling for a homier feel.
  • Choose between a dinette and a drop down sofa for more sleeping spaces.
  • Add a “Slide-Out” wall on the living quarters for extra floor space.
  • Upgrade your cook top, range hood and microwave to stainless steel.
  • Add a flat screen TV and indoor/outdoor speakers for additional entertainment.

Used in place of a standard gooseneck jack, two speed jacks work well as an alternative to a hydraulic jack and can be used for lifting heavy loads. • Dinette In Place of Sofa
A Fold out sleeper sofa is standard in your new trailer. Some folks prefer to have a dinette rather than the Sofa. If you are looking a hang out place to kick back, and comfortable for sleeping, the Sofa is the way to go. If sitting in a booth sipping coffee in the morning is more your style, you may prefer the dinette. Comes with cushions and folds down into a bed. We typically raise the dinette off the floor about 10 inches to allow for the larger water tank to be stored underneath. You will have some storage underneath the seats.
  • Dual Batteries
Several items operate off of the on board trailer battery including your water pump and interior lights. Your battery can be charged from your tow vehicle while traveling, but having an extra back up battery works very well while camping in remote areas. Pricing includes extra battery plus upgrading to the aluminum enclosure rather than a plastic case.
  • Ducted Air System
Your living quarter has a 13,500 BTU Air Conditioning system with a heat strip. The air blows directly from the unit (sort of like a window unit in a home except in the roof). This current method blows constantly and the fan never cuts off. Plus it will freeze you since the air blows on the mattress area. By adding the ducted system, ductwork is installed in the ceiling of your trailer allowing the air to be equally distributed throughout your trailer evenly and with less force. This includes a wall mount thermostat so your unit will completely turn off and on when it reaches your desired temperature.

  • Furnace
All living quarter trailers come standard with a roof mount air conditioner which includes a heat strip. Heat strips work well in mild climates and it is necessary that you have a power source (electricity) to operate heat strips. In colder climates, a furnace is an nice option to have. It operates using propane and battery power and will quickly warmp up your interior even in cold weather. If you are doing cold weather camping, a furnace is not a bad thing to have.

Upgrade your interior cabinets and moldings to all hardwood in place of Vinyl Wrapped. Priced per short wall foot of your interior. (Example: 7' short wall you would select 7).

Add a 10 gallon hot water heater which operates on propane and electricity in place of the standard 6 gallon heater. Nice for larger families or in case you need more capacity.
  • Mattress
Mattress in the bed area 4 in. foam covered. These are very comfortable and we have never had complaints about the quality of the mattress (they are firm). The largest size that will fit in a standard trailer is 60 in. x 72 in. running length of the trailer
  • Microwave Convection Oven
Want to be able to brown food in your microwave. Add a convection microwave oven in place of the standard.

  • Power Cord
Your trailer comes with a 25 ft. cord and electrical hatch for access to your cord. Some folks prefer to have a plug on the side of the trailer and a detachable cord. Add this option to make your cord detachable.
  • 30 lb propane cylinder

You can specify what sort of front that you want for the panel to match other areas of your trailer. (layout may vary and additional footage may be required) 3.0 size refrigerator is required for upgrade to apply.

AirCraft Style Rounded Corner RV door with Bug Screen In place of standard door
  • Glass shower door
Add a swinging glass shower door in place of the curtain on your stall.
  • Slide Out
Add a slide out to your trailer to create additional floor space. These are especially popular on 7 foot wide models. Press a button to activate the hydraulics and watch the size of your interior expand.
    Video ($10803)
  • Soft Touch Walls ($207)
Add Soft Touch in place of the standard hard wall. Soft Touch is a artificial leather looking material that has a foam back behind it. Works well for additional insulation, sound dampening, but more importantly it adds additional color to your interior. If you are wanting a rich interior to fit your style and taste, add Soft walls. Priced per short wall foot and includes Chair Rail and Wainscot at bottom wall. Example: Enter 10 for a 10 foot short wall.
  • Stainless Cooktop, Range Hood and Microwave
Your appliances come standard in a white or black finish. You may elect to upgrade to Stainless on the cook top, range hood and Microwave. Your sink will match your appliance choice. Your refrigerator selection will be separate.
