Straight load goosenecks are a classic choice, but most manufacturers cut corners... thin walls, noisy rides, and layouts that don’t really work for larger horses. We built ours differently.
The Double D Trailers 2 Horse Straight Load Gooseneck is designed around three things: safety, comfort, and flexibility. The frame is built with our Z-Frame® technology, strong as steel but lighter and corrosion-resistant. Inside, your horses are surrounded by SafeKick® walls and a SafeBump® insulated roof that protect against bumps, kicks, and extreme temperatures. The stalls are tall, bright, and padded so even big horses load calmly and travel comfortably.
And because no two riders (or horses) are alike, you can choose from multiple floorplans, from a simple 2-horse straight load to a model with mid-tack, a forward box stall, or even full living quarters.
The end result: a trailer that doesn’t just move horses from point A to point B, but helps them arrive relaxed and ready to go.

Option 1 - Go with the Basics: Standard 2 horse straight load gooseneck with combination dressing & tack room in the front.
Option 2 - Organize Your Gear: 2 horse straight load gooseneck with mid-tack room and separate dressing room so you can keep your gear clean and organized.
Option 3 - Add a Box Stall: 2+1 horse trailer with forward box stall, mid-tack room, and separate dressing room. (This option also works well if you need to transport a carriage or wagon.)
Option 4 - Full Living Quarters: 2 horse straight load gooseneck with mid-tack room and full living quarters area. Add in a kitchenette, bathroom, dining area … the works!

All of our trailers, including the popular SafeTack slant load horse trailers, can be customized to fit your large horse breeds. This particular 2 horse straight load gooseneck model comes standard with a 7’6” high ceiling, padded stalls, and a bright, airy interior. Extra height can be added.

The mid-tack dressing room available on several of the 2 horse straight load gooseneck options described above is the perfect space to organize your equipment. Saddle racks, bridle hooks, and other organizational features will help you protect your valuable tack and grooming supplies.
Best of all, you can keep this (sometimes messy) equipment away from your show clothing, food, and bedding materials in the dressing room.
An interior wall will separate this mid-tack room from both the horse area and the dressing room area. Interior doors can connect the spaces along with an exterior door directly to your tack room.

While the Sportabout 2 horse straight load gooseneck model isn’t the star of our show, it’s still an exceptionally safe horse trailer. Here’s why:
1. Choose a step-up or ramp for your horse trailer. The interior divider can swing over to give your horse more room to walk into his stall.
2. Decide where and how to place the escape doors. Often, straight load horse trailers only have a small half-height escape door that the handler needs to climb through once their horse is in position.
We give you the option of putting as many full-sized escape doors in your trailer as you’d like. (Recently, two full sized doors have been a very popular option with our customers.)
3. Interior door. Handlers can also use the interior door to pass directly from the horse area into the tack room or dressing room (depending on your design configuration.)
4. No Dangerous Manger. This trailer does not have a manger in the front of the straight load stalls. This is another element for safety that allows the handler to walk straight through when loading their horses.
5. Easy Release Safety Pin on Butt and Chest Bars. As with many straight load horse trailers, it is necessary to have chest and butt bars positioned around your horse to keep him in his stall.
Our bars have an easy-release safety pin that makes it possible to lower the bar even if the full weight of your horse is on top of it. This is an important safety feature that can be used if a horse ever rears up and latches a leg over the chest bar.

Our gooseneck horse trailers are especially safe to tow. We’ve designed a V-shaped nose that makes it easier for short bed pick-up trucks to haul safely without any turning radius restrictions. Plus, we’ve positioned the rear lights high up on the trailer so that they can be seen by following motorists.
This 2 horse gooseneck trailer weighs approximately 4200 lbs and can be towed with a half-ton pick-up truck. We always recommend that you carefully look at the towing capacity of your vehicle and the hitch capacity to ensure that you are hauling a safe load. Customize My TrailerA standard 2 horse straight load gooseneck trailer is 21.5 feet long with a box length of 14 feet. The stall length will be 10 feet with 3 feet for the width. The overall trailer length depends on your style of trailer. Add a mid-tack storage area, front box stall, or even full living quarters to increase the length.
An empty 2 horse straight load gooseneck trailer from Double D Trailers weighs around 4,200 - 4,300 pounds and can be towed with most any 1500 series half ton pick-up truck.
Horses prefer trailers that are wide open in the back for easy loading and unloading. A straight load trailer from Double D Trailers is designed to be horse friendly with lots of light and airflow. Straight load trailers often cost less, can work well for large horses, and are simple to load. But, a SafeTack slant load trailer can include extra safety features you might prefer.
Yes. Stall height, width, and length can all be built to fit your horses instead of forcing them into a “standard” size.
Yes. Option 4 adds a full LQ with sleeping, kitchen, and bathroom. Perfect for overnight trips.
